Minister Counsellor Ke Yasha Met with Rio Tinto Representative for Rio Tinto’s potential Sponsorship for the Year of Chinese Culture in Australia

On 28 February, Minister Counsellor Ke Yasha from the Chinese Embassy met with Rio Tinto’s chief advisor for Australia/China relations Mr. Tim Lane at the Chinese Embassy.

Minister Counsellor Ke noted that the bilateral relation has been developing rapidly with the deepening cooperation in various fields. The Year of Chinese Culture, aiming at strengthening the friendly relations between Australia and China as well as promoting the mutual understanding between the two peoples, will showcase the gems of China’s traditional as well as contemporary culture to present a panoramic picture of China to the Australian people.

Minister Counsellor Ke noted that the YCCiA, with its influence both in China and Australia, will be a great platform to help potential sponsors build their brand awareness both in Australia and China.

Mr. Tim Lane expressed that Rio Tinto really appreciate the opportunity of supporting YCCiA. Rio Tinto, intending to be one of the top-tier sponsors, is planning to support related YCCiA events including the opening performance in various ways.
